The idea becomes reality
In 2016, a bold idea suddenly became a real product. Revolution Pi made its debut at SPS IPC Drives – bringing open source to a place where few people expected to find it at the time: industrial automation.
The first RevPi Core was based on the very first Raspberry Pi Compute Module: single-core processor, 512 MB of RAM, and ready for industrial use. From day one, the family also included the three digital expansion modules RevPi DIO, RevPi DI and RevPi DO.
The reactions at the booth? Sceptical looks, raised eyebrows and the same unspoken question: “Open source? In industry? Seriously?” That very friction made it clear that Revolution Pi would spark real change.
