2016 wurde aus einer mutigen Idee plötzlich ein echtes Produkt. Auf der SPS IPC Drives feierte Revolution Pi seine Premiere – und brachte Open Source dorthin, wo damals kaum jemand damit gerechnet hatte: mitten in die industrielle Automatisierung.
Der erste RevPi Core basierte auf dem allerersten Raspberry Pi Compute Module: Single-Core-Prozessor, 500 MB RAM und dennoch bereit für den industriellen Einsatz. Von Beginn an gehörten auch die drei digitalen Erweiterungsmodule RevPi DIO, RevPi DI und RevPi DO zur Familie.
Die Reaktionen am Messestand? Zweifelnde Blicke, hochgezogene Augenbrauen und immer wieder dieselbe unausgesprochene Frage: „Open Source? In der Industrie? Ernsthaft?“ Genau diese Reibung machte klar, dass Revolution Pi eine echte Veränderung anstoßen konnte.

In 2016, a bold idea suddenly became a real product. Revolution Pi made its debut at SPS IPC Drives – bringing open source to a place where few people expected to find it at the time: industrial automation.
The first RevPi Core was powered by the original Raspberry Pi Compute Module, with a single-core processor and 500 MB of RAM. From day one, the family also included the three digital expansion modules RevPi DIO, RevPi DI and RevPi DO.
The reactions at the booth? Sceptical looks, raised eyebrows and the same unspoken question: “Open source? In industry? Seriously?” That friction was the clearest sign that Revolution Pi had the potential to change things.
